Overall it is a good product that gets the job done. But for the price I would have expected a more tool-less installation/design and not a flimsy plastic bar for cable management. The sliding in and out and locking function are spot on. It certainly gets the job done.

Q: Curious if there any shelf locking mechanism while the shelf is either pushed in (to prevent shelf pulling out unexpectedly) or pulled out (for servicing)?

A: Thank you for your interest in our SS1915 shelf, Pete! This particular sliding shelf utilizes detent in slides, meaning that when the shelf is in the "closed" position, you do have to push it in to release the slide. So, that may suffice as the locking mechanism you're looking for while the shelf is in the closed position. However, it does not lock when the shelf is extended. We offer one specialty shelf that has an actual locking clip on it, but it is a 2 post shelf, made for use in transportation cases. Q: What are the hole sizes?
I want to mount a 1U box that will hold my PCBs to the shelf. The idea is I can slide out the shelf and know that it is mounted securely to the self. Please send me some mechanical information.

Q: I received this shelf today and I don't see anything in the way of documentation or instructions. What is the attached plastic strip for?

A: Thank you so much for your order, Charlie! I am so sorry that we did not have instructions available for this shelf! That plastic strip on the rear of the shelf is a cable management arm - if you're putting something on the shelf that has a length of cabling on the back, you can tie-wrap it to that arm (making sure to maintain enough slack!), and that'll just ensure that the cables remain neat and bundled when you slide out the shelf.
