This standard wall rack or server cabinet design must be 19 inches wide for server and networking equipment and utilize rack units vertically or horizontally spaced at 1.75 inches. The EIA-310 specification has been the 19″ racks standard for equipment for 50 years. The measurement of 19 inches is determined from the two outside points of the holes located on the rack mounting rails.
